Observations:-
Welcome again all lovers of the model diesel engines...
Another fine Italian engine from my collection. The great G15 RV is a famous team-racer from the past. This engine was a well known performing engine around 1972 in the 2,5cc diesel class.
I got the engine in great cosmetic shape with box, but the compression was far from perfect. After an examination of the internal parts of the engine, I found evidence of some tuning work, that was not done the way it should been done. which effectively rendered the cylinder sleeve unuasable.
After long search I found a spare used cylinder and piston from Alberto Parra, in Spain (Thanks a lot for that Alberto).
Now with the used cylinder I had the right shape to copy my replacement tuned cylinder from.
It was a difficult task to make the new cylinder, because the angel of the transfer ports must be at 45 degrees angled upwards. This upward angling will give good filling of the cylinder. Of course each of the ports must be exact symmetrical too. It was my first cylinder in this type of porting.
Also to achieve the required fit for the new cylinder, a new correct size piston must also be made~~a big job to be sure!
Now that the engine is is fitted with its new piston and cylinder; it is in good working condition again and it should perform well. I think with a 7x6 prop it will be another real screamer.
